Opinel pocketknife no.8 Blade length - 8,5 cm. The blade is made of 12C27 stainless steel, modified by Sandvik and adapted to Opinel knives, and is renowned for its extremely high quality and easy daily maintenance. The steel is hardened by heat treatment with martensitic hardening. The carbon content of this steel is at least 0,40 %, which makes the blade of high quality and resistant to corrosion.

The traditional Opinel blade is of the jatagan type. The inspiration for this shape comes from the curved point of the Turkish sword. The Jatagan blade is characterised by its convex profile, which gives it strength and allows it to be sharpened repeatedly.

Virobloc Protective Ring

Opinel Nr. 8, like all other Opinel curved knives starting with No. 6, has the Virobloc safety ring invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc ring, which is cut from stainless steel, consists of two parts: a fixed and a sliding part.
