This extra sturdy blade has a wire cutter (maximum cable diameter 5 mm) and a wire stripper (maximum cable diameter 1.8 mm). The handle is equipped with two screwdriver bits.

Blade

The blade length of the Opinel DIY Knife No. 9 is 8 cm. The blade is made of 12C27 stainless steel, modified by Sandvik and adapted to Opinel knives, and is renowned for its extremely high quality and easy daily maintenance. The steel is hardened by heat treatment with martensitic hardening. The carbon content of this steel is at least 0,40 %, which makes the blade of high quality and resistant to corrosion.

Handle

Glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide, impact- and moisture-resistant, with two built-in tips: flat screwdriver (for screws up to 4 mm) and Phillips screwdriver (for screws from 3,5 to 5 mm), magnetized tip holder.

Virobloc safety ring
Opinel No. 9, like all Opinel curved knives from No. 6 onwards, is equipped with the Virobloc safety ring invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc ring, which is cut from stainless steel, consists of two parts: a fixed and a sliding part. The blade is locked in both a folded position (for safe handling) and a folded position (for safety during transport).
