Key features

  • CPU-controlled Li-ion cell charging process: TC/CC/CV
  • NiMH charging method: 0△V and -△V
  • eight independent charging channels
  • Powered by USB Type C - QC 3.0
  • protection: overcurrent, over-voltage, short-circuit, over-charge, overload, thermal

The Xtar BC8 charger has an advanced processor that is able to distinguish the type of battery installed in it. Thanks to this, in each charger socket we can charge any Li-ion 1.5V or Ni-Mh battery. A refined charging algorithm will ensure that the battery is always fully charged and in an optimal, safe way for a given cell chemistry.

BC8 has 8 independent channels and is able to charge each channel with 500mA current. The notch under the ducts has a positive effect on the temperature of the charged batteries and makes it much easier to remove the batteries! Using BC8 is pure pleasure.

Reactivation of over-discharged batteries

BC8 can resurrect over-discharged batteries - even those with a voltage of 0V. Xtar was the first to present this unique functionality in a typical consumer application. Previously, 0V cell reactivation was only available in highly advanced professional equipment.

BC8 charges Li-ion batteries with TC/CC/CV charging method?   It is a three-stage charging process for Li-ion cells to ensure that the cell is kept in good condition by charging with the right current at each stage and completing the charging process at the right time.

The individual stages of the TC/CC/CV process are:

  • TC phase: cells discharged below 2.9V are 'woken up' with a lower current.
  • CC phase: after reaching 2.9V, the cell is charged with a constant current of 0.5A (depending on the power source used and the number of batteries charged).
  • CV phase: when the cell is almost charged, the charger switches to charging with a decreasing current until a voltage of 4.2V is reached on the cell. When 4.2V is reached, the charging process is completed - the battery is fully charged.

Like any Xtar charger, the BC8 is protected in every possible way. The most important security it has are:

  • overcurrent
  • against too high voltage
  • short-circuit
  • against overcharging
  • Overload
  • Thermal
